I met Andy in 1977. He was walking a dog lead, no dog, just a lead. He was wearing a sleeveless denim jacket and an umbrella hat. Apart from him being a very funny and amazing man he was the most generous and lovely person you could wish to meet (and he met plenty of people). If you haven't yet read his book 'A Hitch in time', I recommend you check it out...you may be in it. I made it into his book because he hitched with me from Liverpool to Barnsley. Why? I was going home, I had never hitched before and Andy was so kind and came with me to show me the ropes. We met a man who was heading to Hull to spot UFOs. In his book he speaks so kindly about everyone he met Those of us who have been privileged to have met Andy, known Andy and been a friend of Andy know that we became part of the rich tapestry that was his life and in turn he is a treasured part of our life. I will never forget him. Thank you Andy. I hope you know how much you are loved. X
